About Sand Hill

The simple fact is the systems of support that make up life as we know it are fragile. Plentiful energy and inventory made possible by the dominance of the U.S. dollar in the world has enabled us to live in relative ease compared to the families that first set foot in this area.

We’ve all had a taste of that life with extended power outages during the last few years and had a chance to realize how quickly life becomes all about “getting through it”, keeping our food cold, our houses livable and our properties and livestock cared for.

We need to plan to provide for our families if those systems of support break down due to natural or man-made disruptions. A well rounded approach starts with the most likely event and works out from there.

For example, do you have what you need to be comfortable in any season if the power goes out for a couple weeks and you can’t leave your property?

Once you have a well-rounded two-week plan and everything in place, then expand that to a month of self-reliance. Once you get to a month, it’s not that much more difficult to get to 3-months or longer…but it starts with at two-week plan.

We are working together as a community to help each other develop resilient systems to handle all our basic needs:

  1. Food
  2. Water
  3. Shelter
  4. Energy (climate control)
  5. Security
  6. Sanitation
  7. Healthcare
  8. Communication
  9. Community
  10. Transportation
