When you’re ready to replace your electric water heater, you may want to consider a heat pump model.
- Used about one-fourth the electricity of a conventional water heater.
- It “pumps” heat out of the space into the water then cranks out cool air. During much of the year here in Texas, pumping cold air into a space is good news. It’s possible to add a duct to it and add a diverter so you can direct the air outside in the winter and inside in the summer.
- When you add solar to a utility room or garage, the system will generate some additional heat in the space. We use the cooling from our heat pump water heater to offset that heat gain.
