We have hybrid heat pumps that can run directly off solar panels or with AC power.
For example, Greg and Danica installed two 12,000BTU solar heat pumps in their house (Living and Master Bedroom) about a week before the major storm and 6-day power outage in June 2023.
The units cooled their house all day with no need to run a generator. At that point they didn’t even have AC power connected to the units. They ran directly off the sun.
These units are heat pumps so they will also help heat your home when it finally cools off around here.
